Valentine’s Day at PCA
February 14
Thursday I visited Pinnacle Classical Academy and found the elementary school buzzing with Valentine’s excitement. They were making Valentine’s crafts, playing Valentine’s games and sharing Valentine’s notes with all their schoolmates. And although I didn’t have a chance to visit the upper grade’s class, I hear they got to watch a movie and have a party of their own.
Outdoor Game
For K-3rd grades, a highlight was definitely the Race For the Heart game Mrs. Peery led outside, which was like a twist of freeze tag and capture the flag. The students were broken up into two teams, including my 2-year-old who was with me, and Mrs. Peery’s 4-year-old who was with her.
Inclusion
One of the things I’ve always appreciated about PCA is the way they intentionally encourage the students of all ages to interact with one another. And one thing I’ve grown to really appreciate about the students at PCA is the way they live that out, including each other in games and jokes and friendship regardless of age, even little siblings who don’t go to school yet.
Words of Thanks
To the students, thank you for including my 2-year-old son. He thinks the world of all of you! And to the upper grade students who regularly tell my 6-year-old son that he is awesome, thank you for making a positive impact that I’m certain will last forever. Your simple words and affirmations make school a fun place to be!
