Book Reports
The Reports
Monday was a big day in Miss Claxton’s class. The 2nd and 3rd graders had been working on their big book reports for three weeks, choosing just the right book, reading it at home, writing out a report in their neatest handwriting, and creating a poster board visual to display during their presentation of the book. Each student did a great job stating and describing the characters, setting, and story of their book of choice. In good classical form, Miss Claxton encouraged and reminded each student to make eye contact with their audience as they presented.
The Visuals
Although it was obvious that the students enjoyed their books and their presentations, the best part was definitely the poster board visuals. Each student was proud of what they had created and their classmates were equally impressed and full of good questions. It was a lot of fun! The poster boards will most likely be on display at Recitation Night this Thursday for you to look at closer.
The Books
In the line-up, you’ll see:
the magical castle in Tuesdays at the Castle,
the daunting dragon in Dragon of the Red Dawn,
the journey of a most beloved horse in Black Beauty,
the charming woman who loved the sea in Sarah, Plain and Tall,
the mysterious private island in Surprise Island,
the suspense and twists in The Mysterious Benedict Society,
the allure into a strange world in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,
the “ah-ha” moment of discovery in The Soccer Mystery,
and the perplexing riddle in Summer of the Sea Serpent.
Way to go 2nd and 3rd grade class on a job well done!
